Habitat build site
Help Build a Habitat Home!
Under the guidance of skilled mentors, youth volunteers perform just about every construction task from foundation work to framing to flooring on a Habitat build site. No experience required.
Youth Build Days are popular with those seeking a hands-on introduction to the construction industry or simply looking to gain required volunteer hours for school. Maybe you just want to try something entirely new and learn a few skills along the way? No matter your motivation, we guarantee a fun memorable experience.
We invite youth from all walks of life to join us on a local build site. Youth Build Days are scheduled on a regular basis or can be reserved specifically for local agencies, high schools, colleges/universities, teams or church groups. We know that youth are busy so build site hours are flexible! Commit to whatever amount of time you are able to give.
Some of the volunteer youth who take part include:
Holy Cross Catholic School
Lindsay College and Vocational Institute
Peterborough Alternative and Continuing Educations
YES Shelter for Youth and Families
WE Take Action Camp

What youth are saying about HYP!
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Habitat for Humanity. Not only was it a nice feeling knowing I was helping, but it was nice watching Curve Lake First Nation Youth take part in helping – and enjoying it! Everyone at the build was so appreciative of us coming, and they welcomed us with kind hearts. The food was amazing and the memories will last a lifetime! Miligwech for including us in your build.” – Ashkineeg-kew Whetung
