30 Years of ReStore
This year, Habitat ReStore is celebrating 30 years – happy birthday ReStore! Did you know that the first-ever Habitat ReStore (in the world) was in Manitoba?
The concept of Habitat ReStore originated in Canada, with five volunteers from Winnipeg, Manitoba opening Habitat for Humanity’s first-ever ReStore in 1991.
Now 30 years later, there are over 100 Habitat ReStores across Canada (including 3 here in the Peterborough and Kawartha Region). And there are 1,024 Habitat ReStores around the world (in six countries). All of these ReStores are raising funds to enable more families to partner with Habitat for Humanity and access affordable homeownership.
In celebration of this special ReStore milestone Habitat for Humanity International put together a collection of just some of the fantastic finds that, while passing through Habitat ReStores, have helped families build or improve the places they call home over the past three decades. This includes a VERY special find that came through our Peterborough North ReStore and we were so honoured to have our local Habitat featured in this special anniversary piece.
