Wow! Our communities are incredible. Recently two local communities in the Peterborough and Kawartha Region held ‘Clothes for Homes’ drives to help build much-needed affordable homes.
On Saturday, July 24, 2021, the Bobcaygeon community held a ‘Clothes for Homes’ drive and collected an incredible 95 bags/boxes of clothing combined! We are so grateful to all who donated clothes to support this successful drive and to NorTech Home Improvements and local community leader Ann Adare for their amazing efforts in helping to raise awareness of the initiative.
The very next day on Sunday, July 25, 2021, the Parklands Peterborough Neighbourhood also held a ‘Clothes for Homes’ drive and collected an incredible 53 bags/boxes of clothing combined from their neighbourhood! WOW – what an effort! Thank you to all of the neighbourhood volunteers who helped to make this drive such a success.
When you donate your no longer needed clothes to Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region, you are reducing your carbon footprint by keeping them out of the landfill. Plus, the revenue generated by the sale of your clothes will help build decent and affordable homes for people right here in your community.
But that’s not it. Did you know that Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region has partnered with organizations like the YES Shelter for Youth and Families? We provide their clients with clothing items on a monthly basis that fit their specific needs for types, sizes, and styles of clothing required. We also provide vouchers for their clients to shop at the Habitat ReStore for housewares, furniture, and clothing items to set them up for success for school, job interviews, sports, and life.
So make room in your closets, dressers, and in your life, and clear out those items you don’t wear or need anymore! When you donate your clothing to a Habitat ReStore, you’re not only decluttering your space, you’re giving someone else the opportunity to enjoy your items AND, you are supporting the building of much-needed affordable housing in your local community.
