Important Update: Fraserville Build

Posted: 28-Jul-2025

We want to share an important update about the Habitat for Humanity Peterborough &
Kawartha Region build in Fraserville.

Originally, this home was slated to be constructed using innovative 3D printing robotic
technology, a first for our region. Like many of you, we were excited to explore this modern
and efficient approach to affordable housing construction in partnership with Cormor Inc.

However, due to local supply chain challenges beyond our control, we have made the
decision to move forward with traditional stick-built construction for this project.

As always, we remain committed to pursuing new technologies that have the potential to
improve how we build. This decision reflects our deep responsibility to our donors,
ensuring that every dollar entrusted to us is used responsibly, prudently, and directed to
where it will have the greatest impact.

We want to thank Cormor Inc. and recognize the significant contributions they and their
consulting partners have made in advancing this project. We’re proud of the innovative
work they’ve undertaken, including successfully securing a building permit for their 3D
design and wall assemblies. We also extend our appreciation to the Township of
Otonabee-South Monaghan and their progressive building department for supporting
innovation in the region by approving this permit.

Thanks to the generous support of our donors, the home in Fraserville will still be built
this year. The foundation has already been poured, and we’re excited to move forward
using our traditional building method. This approach allows us to do what Habitat does
best — bring together volunteers, tradespeople, donors, and community members to build
a quality, affordable home that gives a hand-up to a local family in need.

Despite these changes, our goal remains the same: to ensure that a local Habitat family
has a safe, decent, and affordable place to call home by Christmas 2025. We look forward
to sharing updates as this build progresses.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
