Meet Kevin | King Charles III Coronation Medal Volunteer

As we continue celebrating Volunteer Appreciation Week, today we are proud to shine a spotlight on a truly remarkable member of our Habitat Peterborough & Kawartha Region family — Kevin.

At a special Volunteer Appreciation Celebration held on last night (April 30) at Omemee Coronation Hall, Kevin was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal, one of the highest honours a Canadian volunteer can receive. Surrounded by fellow volunteers, friends, and family, Kevin accepted this prestigious national award with his signature humility and good spirit.

The King Charles III Coronation Medal is awarded to Canadians who have made exceptional contributions to their communities, to Canada, or to the Crown. Fewer than 30,000 individuals across the country receive this distinction — and we are so proud that Kevin is among them.

Meet Kevin

Kevin has been volunteering at the Lindsay ReStore since 2021, managing the lighting department with enthusiasm, expertise, and a willingness to always lend a hand. After retiring from a successful career in education, Kevin brought his skills, leadership, and heart to Habitat PKR, quickly becoming a trusted and valued member of the team. Known for his problem-solving skills, positive attitude, and reliability, Kevin sets a shining example of what it means to give back.

“Kevin is not only a dedicated volunteer — he embodies the spirit of community,” shared Susan Zambonin, CEO of Habitat PKR. “His commitment to our mission of building safe, decent, and affordable housing has a lasting impact on families across our region. We are so proud to honour him with this well-deserved recognition.”

Originally from Hamilton and raised in East Scarborough, Kevin moved to Lindsay in 2003 and has been deeply connected to the community ever since. His selfless dedication during his retirement years is an inspiration to all of us.

During National Volunteer Week — and every day — we are reminded that the heart and hard work of volunteers like Kevin are what make our mission possible. Kevin’s story is a powerful example of how one person’s dedication can create brighter futures and stronger communities.
