Winners Announced for The Big Flip Furniture Flipping Contest 2025
We’re flipping out with excitement over the incredible results of The Big Flip 2025 – our fun, Earth Day-inspired furniture-flipping contest in partnership with Chemong Home Hardware Building Centre! This year’s contest saw 22 creative entries and 1,427 community votes, all coming together to celebrate sustainability and the magic of upcycling.
Meet the Winners of The Big Flip 2025:
🏆 Big & Bold Winner: Janice Brown
Janice gave an old dresser a fresh, fun twist, transforming it into a beautiful display for her husband’s miniature wargaming collection. As an artist, Janice made sure the dresser was painted to perfection: “Painting was always going to be a part of the transformation—it’s something we both love!” Janice scored a $500 gift card to Chemong Home Hardware Building Centre, $100 to the Habitat ReStore, and a Peterborough Tool Library membership to fuel her future DIY projects.
🏆 Small but Mighty Winner: Jordanne Posch
Just three weeks postpartum, Jordanne was eager to tackle her next flip for this years contest! She worked her magic on a second-hand dresser with damaged veneer, giving it new life with sanding, painting, and embossed stencil details. Jordanne shared, “It needed some love” and we couldn’t agree more! She took home a $250 gift card to Chemong Home Hardware Building Centre, $50 to the Habitat ReStore, and a Peterborough Tool Library membership to keep her DIY spirit strong.
Not only is The Big Flip fun, but it also highlights the importance of sustainable practices in reducing waste and contributing to a circular economy. In 2024 alone, the three Habitat PKR ReStores diverted 340,028 items from landfills thanks to generous donations of new and gently used building materials, furniture, appliances, and home décor items. Every item purchased or donated at the Habitat ReStore helps fund affordable housing projects across the Peterborough and Kawartha Region.
